Hi Jo. I suffered terrible sickness all through my pregnancy. At 7 weeks I had the first bout which ended (after 36 hours of non stop vomiting) with me going to hospital for an anti-sickness injection. I had 2 further episodes like this until at 12 weeks my doctor prescribed me Avomine travel sickness tablets. You just take one a day at bedtime but this can be increased if necessary. I tried to stop taking them at 16 weeks as everyone kept telling me that the hormones should've settled down and the sickness subside but after just 2 days off the tablets I had another bout of vomiting which again only stopped after an injection at the hospital. I tried the traditional methods of dry biscuits, eating little and often etc but they just couldn't keep it at bay. Dont' suffer if you don't have to. I understand not everyone's keen to take tablets when pregnant but they don't appear to have done my daughter any harm and she's 12 months old now.

Bad luck on being left on your own, but at least you know that's the score and can get yourself prepared! I'm sure you know this already but my advice to you is take all the help you are offered and don't feel guilty! My husband stuck around and it was still a massive adjustment for the both of us and even a year on I don't think we've caught up on our missed sleep!!

Take care
