Where to see real reindeer this Christmas

Where to see real reindeer this Christmas

Nothing says Christmas like real-life reindeer, and you don’t have to head to Lapland to see them

Reindeer

Cranham, Gloucestershire

At Prinknash Bird and Deer Park the trees and lakes will be flooded with light, and Santa’s sleigh is pulled by an extraordinary reindeer made of horseshoes – watch the real ones resting in their enclosure. On toddler days there’s an activity tent, face-painting, a Christmas fairy and Santa too.

Wetherby, Yorkshire

You’ll find a special Christmas adventure waiting for you in the ancient woodland of Stockeld Park. Glide around on the newly extended ice rink, get lost in the giant illuminated, snowflake-shaped yew maze, take little ones to see Santa and, best of all, meet his reindeer.

Blithbury, Staffordshire

Blithbury Reindeer Lodge has England’s largest working reindeer herd, 150 of them. From mid-November there are also reindeer sleigh rides, elf school, fireside story-telling, and gingerbread reindeer to decorate. You’re free to amble round the barns and meet all the reindeer, from cute youngsters to majestic full-grown males, and there are even special toddler days.

Ellesmere Port, Cheshire

See Santa and his reindeer, and feed them too, have your pictures taken in traditional sleighs, and enjoy donkey and funfair rides at Cheshire Reindeer Lodge. You can even round the day off by buying your tree here.

Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire

At Mead Open Farm, children will love the Christmas Kingdom where they can visit the Elves’ Christmas Village, Santa’s Grotto, meet real reindeer and make magical reindeer food to take home.

Glenmore, Inverness-shire

There’s another free-ranging herd of 150 reindeer in Scotland, and if you’re feeling energetic you can take a guided tour up the mountain to see them. But little ones can visit animals in the paddocks at Glenmore, as well as exploring Santa’s Bothy and the Elves’ House.

Wherever you are: If you can find a quiet moment to sit with your little ones, visit Reindeercam.com (or download the app), Santa’s official reindeer live feed. Watch him feeding his reindeer or getting them ready for their Christmas Eve adventure.
