IN A NUTSHELL
Innovative materials and a parent-friendly focus are the hallmarks of this young car seat company, only founded in 2006, and its Merlin seat places a premium on comfort as well as safety.
Offers rear-facing travel from birth up to a maximum weight of 18kg – around the age of four. It has a 360 degree rotating, generously padded seat, so access is never going to be a problem, plus four rear- and three forward-facing recline positions and a non-rethread five-point harness. It’s Isofix installed (with support leg), the dimensions are 64 x 43 x 66cm and it weighs 14kg. The covers are removable and machine washable.
The side-impact protection system on the Merlin uses the sort of high-density polyurethane foam that’s also employed in the construction of racing drivers’ helmets. That’s peace of mind for you, right there.
This definitely isn’t a grab-and-go solution to anyone’s tot transportation needs. In fact, the Merlin is a bit of a beast, so once you’ve got it correctly installed in your car, I can guarantee you won’t want to be moving it any time soon.
