How to have a hassle-free airport experience
Going on a family vacation but dreading getting there, here is how you can start your journey hassle-free.
Weigh up the pros and cons of an indirect route before booking a bargain basement flight. PROS: cheaper and could provide a welcome break. CONS: a long layover and upheaval could be irritating.
Check out the airport website before you leave to find play zones (great for burning off excess toddler energy), changing and feeding facilities.
Leave plenty of time to get through the airport – holidays are all about chilling out and having fun so try not to get stressed out on the journey.
Pack liquid essentials in clear zip-top bags in hand luggage to save any faffing at security.
Pack a little local currency in your hand luggage for taxi rides or giving tips on arrival.
Airport valet parking is a luxury but not as expensive as you think. Visit parkandgo.co.uk
Ask at check-in if there’s room on board for your FAA-approved car seat. If the flight isn’t full you might be able to do this for free – worth a try!
A rucksack as a carryon and a bumbag for passports and money will leave you hands-free.
You will have to carry your baby through security, but you can usually take a pram all the way up to the boarding gate.
Decorate your luggage with colourful stickers so you can easily spot it quickly on the carousel at the other end of your journey.
