Is this the most accurate fertility app?

This fertility app is apparently as effective as the pill - so what about when it comes to conception?

Naturalcycles

A new study has found the Natural Cycles app is as effective as the contraceptive pill at preventing pregnancy.

All you do is upload your daily body temperature measurements into the Natural app, by which it pinpoints your fertility window.

Based on this information, the app can then predict when you’ll ovulate and gives you a calendar of ‘red’ and ‘green’ days. If you’re using it as a contraceptive, you have sex on green days and avoid it on red ones – or the other way around if you’re trying to conceive.

The data it accumulates during the time spent on using the app for contraception can then be used to pinpoint your most fertile days.

Co-founder of Natural Cycles, Elina Berglund herself used the app as a contraceptive for 18 months before trying for a baby, and got pregnant on her first red day.

The study looked at 4,054 Swedish women aged 20-35 and found that the app was just as effective as the pill. Comparing the app’s Pearl Index with the pill, the study found that a very similar number of women would be expected to accidentally fall pregnant using Natural Cycles as with the pill.
