Is stress hereditary?

Research has found a link between male stress and their children's own reaction to pressure

Mum and Dad

A study in America has found that events experienced in life by a parent, even the father, could influence characteristics passed on to their children, just like DNA.

Researchers at the University of Pennsylvania stressed male mice, compared their sperm, and even mild stress was enough to trigger changes in their sperm at a molecular level that would be wired into their children and influence how their children developed.

Published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, stress triggers for male mice carried changes in their sperm that affected the way their children responded to stress, which could indicate the same in humans.

So it's not just hopeful mums that should take it easy when you're looking to conceive!
