Pregnant and hot? Tips for staying cool this summer
Feeling the heat during pregnancy is a common side effect but with the hot summer this year, your temperature gage could be going through the roof!
Keeping cool, especially at night may feel like an ongoing battle but we have some quick and easy tips for a cooler pregnancy.
Choose cool clothing
This may sound obvious, but even though you may have some lovely maternity clothes you are dying to wear, keep your choices simple and light in the hot weather, loose, light fabrics will help you stay cooler this summer.
Drink plenty of water
Regularly drink water, ideally with ice, to maintain your body temperature and keep you hydrated in this hot summer.
Invest in a fan
Unless you just happen to have air conditioning in your home, invest in some fans for the home. The cool air from a fan will be your saviour particularly at night.
Bathe your feet in ice water
Swollen ankles and feet is a common symptom of pregnancy and get even worse in the hot weather. When you can, fill a bowl with cold water and ice and soak your feet for a while, it can help reduce any swelling from the day and really cool your whole body down.
Use ice on your wrists
A little trick for cooling yourself down is to place an ice cube on your wrist, it cools your body down and helps regulate your body temperature, also feels quite nice and refreshing!
