Every family’s freezer essentials

The essentials every family freezer should have

Food and parenting blogger and mum Becky Wiggins shares her essentials for every family freezer to ensure you can rustle up a delicious meal whenever you need to straight from the freezer

Here are her essentials:

Frozen veg - so handy, and great as an extra pop of colour in cottages pies, risottos, etc

Breadcrumbs - whizz and freeze leftover bread - it's lovely as a crunchy topping for pasta, fish, etc

Fruit - either bought or leftover from the summer, for crumbles, pies and smoothies

Ice cube trays full of leftover bits of gravy - I use them to add flavour to soups and stews

Fish pie mix - great for those 'I've got nothing to make for dinner' days

Frozen prawns - for risotto, or just for stir-frying with garlic and serving on a baguette (my favourite)

Chargrilled veg - Sainsbury's introduced me to these. They're delicious in a tomato sauce to accompany any meal.

Ice cream - for a quick dessert and for milkshakes

Becky Wiggins is working with Sainsbury's on their Love Your Freezer campaign
