When we become parents, dining out isn't quite what it was with nigiri being replaced with nuggets and chorizo for chips. A relaxed evening meal becomes a pop in to a fast food outlet to get the kids fed before they have a meltdown. You may be surprised though to discover this doesn't have to be the case.

Online restaurant booking service OpenTable recommends ten restaurants around the UK that offer that fine dining experience but also welcome kids of all ages. Have your tried any of the restaurants below?

London: Hix Soho

Kids under 10 eat free at select times and there is a monthly 'Art and Food club' drawing competition in addition to superb options for the little ones.

Offers kids menu with high quality, 'grown-up' ingredients (think crushed not mushy peas).
