Easter days out in 2016
See your childhood favourites again and hunt down some chocolate eggs this Easter!
Back to the Future
We’re loving the current TV revival of our childhood favorites, especially when we hear little ones humming along to the theme tune of the Clangers (currently on CBeebies) or enjoying Miffy, on screen again in Miffy’s Adventures Big and Small (on Tiny Pop). Head along to the V&A Museum of Childhood in Bethnal Green to see the new exhibition The Clangers, Bagpuss & Co, which brings together original puppets, archive footage, sets, photos, scripts and filming equipment from these shows plus Pogles’ Wood, Nogin the Nog and Ivor the Engine too. 19 March-9 October
Beamish is a living museum in County Durham, telling the story of life in the north east of England during the 1820s, 1900s and 1940s. And in case you think that sounds a little grown-up for your three-year-old, the museum is adding Easter fun this year. Try your hand at traditional baking, crafts and games, and explore how people celebrated Easter in the past by having a go at egg rolling and jarping (it’s a little like conkers, but with hard-boiled eggs), listen to Easter tunes and meet newborn lambs at the 1940s farm. 25-27 March
