Do you re-gift presents?

Stingy and mean or frugal and economical? How to avoid the biggest Christmas taboo: re-gifting

Elvesinthesnow

Ok, we never admit to it – but re-gifting does save money, and other than donating them to charity there’s not much else to be done with those presents the little ones didn’t even touch, right?

A survey by games and jigsaws manufacturer Orchard Toys found that half of parents re-gift unwanted presents as Christmas.

It’s a taboo, no doubt – nobody wants to be seen as stingy at Christmas – but on the flipside it can be a frugal and economical option for gift-giving.

But ultimately, we all want to give gifts that are (or at least appear to be) considered, useful and personal. So how can you avoid re-gifting?

The survey found that over 70 per cent of parents and grandparents want their children to receive educational toys. Traditional toys were also popular – whereas the most likely re-gift was soft toys. So maybe re-think that fluffy dog this Christmas!
