Say no to Christmas pressure

Say no to Christmas pressure

Is it Ok that we put pressure on ourselves to create the perfect family Christmas?

In fact, is it Ok that we get asked that question at all? Actually, why is there even an accepted idea of what the perfect Christmas is?

Frankly, we don’t fancy looking like the people on the TV ads (or all those smug Instagram-perfect families) – they look just a touch creepy, in a Stepford Wives kinda way.

As mums, let’s collectively say to the world, you know what, I’m going to make Christmas fun, and I don’t care if that means we don’t eat till six, and that what we do end up eating
is toast – who really likes turkey and sprouts anyway?

And who cares if we don’t quite manage to get dolled-up for the day, and the tots go crazy with excitement? We say embrace the madness – it’s the only sane way to go.

These days are precious and you’ll never get them back, so stop, take a breath and marvel at the joy on the little ones’ faces as they see the sparkly lights and the Christmas tree for the first time, and revel in the thrill of tearing the wrapping off their presents. Just having happy tots sounds like a pretty perfect Christmas to us. Enjoy.
