Toddler won't separate from his blanket, how can I wean him off it?

It can be a battle to separate a baby from their blankie, find out how to wean your baby off it.

Toddler wont separate from his blanket how can I wean him off it

My 18-month-old son won’t be separated from his blankie. It’s a battle to wash it and I’m scared we’ll lose it. How can I wean him off it?

I suggest you buy a few more blankies or similar comfort toys/teddies to leave lying around for your son to play with in his everyday routine, then he can get used to playing with other toys for comfort.

Also, your son’s language will be starting to develop, certainly over the next six to 12 months, and as his ability to talk increases you’ll be able to encourage him to play and use other toys for comfort, play and sleep times.

You could consider quickly washing the blankie by hand once he has gone to sleep. However, I wouldn’t suggest that you try to completely wean him off it yet, as when all is said and done he is still very young and it’s just not worth the battle. If I was you I’d wait until he gets a little older.
