C-section remedies

Are there any remedies that can help after a cesarian section?

CS

I’m about to have my second elective caesarian and can remember how I suffered from really painful trapped wind with the first one. Are there any remedies that will help? Also, is it Ok to take Arnica pills alongside any other medication, and are the pills more effective than Arnica cream?

Raphanus can be a very helpful remedy for this kind of problem, when the abdomen is hard and distended and there is internal gurgling but nothing can be passed. I remember a patient of mine, who was in great pain with trapped wind after her C-section, recounting in delight how as soon as she took the remedy she farted non-stop for several minutes and the pain completely disappeared!

Carbo Veg is another possible remedy for trapped wind, useful when there is already some belching and flatus which brings a little relief, but the pain and distension still continue. Other indications for Carbo Veg include feeling particularly weak and faint after the surgery, with chilliness and clammy sweat, but with a craving for air and being fanned.

It’s perfectly fine to take Arnica pills along with any other medication, and these will help to promote healing. However, rather than use Arnica cream on your wound I would recommend that you apply a specific homeopathic scar cream, which is available from the larger homeopathic pharmacies.
