Howard Donald talks Halloween
Take That singer and dad Howard Donald lends his voice to the Halloween special of Nick Jr. show Wallykazam! this spooky season. He shares how he celebrated Halloween as a child - and how he celebrates it now with his children.
Wallykazam is a show all about words. What are some of your favourite words?
Balloon, I've no idea why, and turbulence. Poo is a word that makes me laugh and pants too, because if something isn't great you can just say, "it's pants". I love it.
Did you ever go trick or treating as a child?
As a kid I used to go treat or treating, and I go trick or treating with my 10-year-old daughter. She lives in Germany but I tend to do it in England because where she lives it's all apartments and you can't get in them, so you don't get anything!
What has been your favourite costume?
Some of my favourite costumes, or probably the only costume I ever wore, was one of my mum's white sheets that I used to pinch and cut holes in them to be a ghost. Basically, a really cheapo, rubbish costume. She wasn't very happy!
In the episode Wally and his friends have to perform a trick in order to get a treat. Did you play any tricks or pranks when you were a child?
I used to sing a song about witches of Halloween: "we're Witches of Halloween, oohh oohh. The ugliest you have ever seen..." That's what I used to sing, so we normally got a treat through that rather than playing tricks.
Catch Howard in the Nick Jr. Wallykazam! Halloween special on Friday 30 October at 5.30pm.
