Shocking pregnancy changes?

We all know pregnancy means weight gain and a fairly good chance of some form of morning sickness, but what body changes weren't you aware of and took you by surprise?

A new survey, to support the launch of new book You Pee When You Sneeze...And Other Things They Don't Tell You About Pregnancy, a real-life first time mum's diary, finds out what mums-to-be really find shocking about pregnancy.

Out of 100 mums surveyed, 31% said feeling their baby hiccup was the most unexpected pregnancy side effect. This was closely followed by suffering acid reflux and developing a weak bladder, which came in joint second place with 20% each. Itchy pregnancy skin also came as a surprise to 15% of the women, while 14% had not expected to suffer from piles during pregnancy.

After the birth, the body change which came as the biggest surprise was postpartum hair loss, according to 51% of women asked. Meanwhile, 31% of mums were shocked by the strength of their milk flow and subsequent 'squirty nipples'. Constipation and bladder weakness were also unexpected conditions, both scoring 9%.

What surprised you about pregnancy? Did you get a side effect or body change that you really weren't expecting? Share your views in our forum, or via Facebook or Twitter.
