Get busy - it's Nookie Friday

Today is the most fertile day of the year – will you be celebrating National Conception Day?

Today’s the day! Today (Friday 11 December) is the most fertile day of the year, apparently.

So if you’re looking to expand the family in 2016, today might be a good a time as ever to try.

But what is it about this day that makes it so special? Well for starters, the winter chill improves sperm quality, boosting fertility.

Secondly, the cold, rainy days and long, dark nights mean we generally spend more time at home... snuggled up in bed... under the duvet...

Conversely, with the festive party season upon us, our social calendars are busier than ever, and that extra glass of mulled wine can go a long way to getting us in the mood.

It also makes sense statistically – 9 per cent of babies are born each September, and 16 September is the most popular birthday in the UK. So count that back 40 weeks... et voila! 11 December.

We also have a tendency to target September babies so our little ones will have a head start when they begin school, as they’ll be slightly older.
