Children losing their appetite for 'real' food

Our little ones are growing up thinking chickens don’t have bones and apples don’t have cores

Fewer children are growing up knowing where their food comes from and what it looks like before it hits their plate, new research has found.

A new report reveals how children are losing their appetite for what food really tastes like.

The Nottingham University report, commissioned by Organix, found that unnecessary additives, artiticial flavours and colours are impacting children’s ability to recognise, experience and enjoy ‘real’ food.

Our children are growing up unaware of things like chickens have bones and apples have cores and we are instead turning towards quick, convenience meals.

Shockingly, two thirds of children prefer chicken nuggets to chicken breast, eight out of 10 prefer tomato ketchup to tomatoes, eight out of 10 prefer fish fingers to fish fillets and nearly half like ketchup and mayonnaise with their veg.
