You are 23 weeks pregnant!
In this middle stage of pregnancy, when your bump isn’t huge and you feel energised and healthy it might be a good idea to go away on holiday or for a long weekend
By week 23, very soon you won’t be able to have spontaneous nights out with your partner, or weekends away without sore boobs and a crying baby. You can fly whilst pregnant until your 34th week so book somewhere decadent while you can. As you can feel your baby kicking you may start to notice cycles of when she is asleep and when she wakes and is active. During week 23, the hair on your baby's head begins to darken to the colour it will be when she is born.
Usually, if you are experiencing a healthy, normal pregnancy, airlines will let you fly up until your eighth month, bringing you well into your third trimester. The exception is if you are expecting multiple births, when the limit for airline travel is reduced to around seven months. This information can be elusive on airlines’ websites, so a quick call to your travel agent or the airline itself should put you straight.
It should be noted that you are expected to be truthful about your due date and may need to produce a doctor’s certificate later on in pregnancy to prove your fitness for travel.
One of the most crucial things to do is keep yourself hydrated whilst traveling by plane by drinking lots of water. If you are traveling a long distance, it will help fight jetlag and, anyway, it will stop your skin feeling like a paper bag once you have landed. Even if you are experiencing an increased need to visit the lavatory, just make sure you ask for an aisle seat when booking your flight and don’t worry about what other people think to your apparent obsession with the WC facilities on board.
