You are 8 weeks pregnant!
The gonads (the primary reproductive organs) will become either ovaries or testes.
During week 8, depending on whether your baby is a boy or a girl, the gonads (the primary reproductive organs) will become either ovaries or testes. It is still too early to tell what sex your baby is on an ultrasound scan, but the sex of your baby was decided weeks ago at the point of conception. If you could see your baby now, you would see a tiny nose beginning to form, as well as the jaw which will eventually become your baby’s mouth.
Your baby is beginning to move around in week eight in jumpy little movements but he is still too small for you to be able to feel him yet. This week your baby is a similar size to a little bean and his eyelids and ears are starting to form. Amazingly even though your baby is small, tastebuds start to form on his tongue and the little embryonic tail that made him look like a little shrimp has gone as your baby changes to resemble a tiny little person.
For you, you may be lucky enough to not have many pregnancy symptoms yet, but most pregnant women at week 8 will be in the throws of morning sickness. Don't worry, this stage doesn't last forever and soon you'll be realising that your waistband is getting tight and your breasts are filling out.
