Your toddler is 28 months old!
Your toddler is more active in this stage of his development than any other stage of his life, so enjoy watching him walk, run and climb over anything, kick balls and perhaps even throw them, jump with two feet, screw and unscrew lids and go up and down stairs on his own (you may still need to supervise at this stage though). He probably loves his tricycle or has a bike with training wheels and his balance is improving both on the bike and during a hopping game… keeping up with your toddler is a workout in itself!
It may be tempting to chat to other mums or read a magazine while your toddler plays, but don’t. Keeping an eye on your toddler is the best way of ensuring she sticks to age-appropriate slides and climbing frames and doesn’t get out of her depth on equipment designed for bigger, stronger children, or cycle her tricycle into a group of children! Staying vigilant also means you can protect her from bigger children who might not always be careful when playing around younger, smaller toddlers. And if she does get stuck or have an accident you can be right there by her side when she needs your help and to administer first aid if necessary.
